ResurFX™ Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing in Vancouver

If you’re looking to improve your skin’s texture, reduce the appearance of scars or stretch marks without the extensive recovery time of more aggressive treatments, ResurFX™ laser resurfacing may be right for you. ResurFX is a powerful, non-ablative fractional laser that targets the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and elastic fiber production, helping you achieve smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin.

How ResurFX Works

ResurFX uses advanced fractional laser technology to deliver precise energy into the dermis without damaging the skin’s surface. Unlike ablative lasers, which remove layers of skin, this non-ablative approach works by heating targeted tissue to encourage collagen remodeling and skin renewal from within. Over a series of treatments, the skin gradually becomes smoother, firmer, and more even in tone.

Why Choose ResurFX?

ResurFX is an excellent choice for anyone looking to address early signs of aging or improve the appearance of damaged or scarred skin. Some of the key benefits include:

  • Improved skin texture and tone
  • Reduction in scars and stretch marks
  • Minimal downtime
  • Safe, non-invasive treatment suitable for many skin types
  • Customizable sessions tailored to individual concerns

ResurFX Preparation

Before your ResurFX treatment, patients should avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for at least two weeks prior to your appointment. They should also discontinue the use of retinoids, exfoliants, and certain acne medications like Accutane.

Keep your skin clean and well-hydrated in the days leading up to your session. If you have a history of cold sores, let us know; a customized prep plan will be discussed during your consultation to align with your specific skin needs and medical history.

Am I a Candidate?

While ResurFX is suitable for many individuals, it may not be appropriate for those with active skin infections, inflammatory conditions, or certain medical issues such as skin cancer. During your consultation, Dr. Arko and our laser specialist will carefully review your medical history and assess your skin to determine whether ResurFX is the right fit for your needs and goals.

When Will I See Results?

Most patients begin to see noticeable improvements after their first or second session, with optimal results developing gradually over the course of several treatments. Typically, a series of 3 to 5 sessions spaced about 4 to 5 weeks apart is recommended for the best outcome. Because collagen production continues over time, you may continue to see skin improvements for up to six months following your final treatment.

What to Expect After Treatment

After a ResurFX session, it’s normal to experience mild redness or swelling in the treated area, which usually resolves within a few hours to a couple of days. Most patients are able to resume their normal activities the same day. You’ll be advised to avoid direct sun exposure for several days and to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin and support healing.

Whether you’re hoping to reduce scarring, improve skin tone, or target early signs of aging, ResurFX offers a safe and effective path toward refreshed, smoother skin. Frequently Asked Questions

Is the treatment painful?

Fractional 1540 skin resurfacing is non-ablative meaning it leaves the top epidermal layer of tissue intact. No conscious sedation is required and the procedure is non-surgical. Fractional skin resurfacing is performed using a topical anesthetic on the skin for treatment of individual regions of the face and body. The most you will feel is a warm, prickly sensation, which is very tolerable.

How many treatments are required?

A series of 3-4 treatments is recommended for optimal results. Each treatment takes approximately 30 to 90 minutes depending on the size of the area. A topical anesthetic can be applied to the area for 10 minutes before treatment to numb the skin. Treatments are scheduled approximately 4-6 weeks apart.

How will my skin look and feel?

Your skin will look pink, with mild to moderate swelling and feel warm. After the treatment the aesthetician will provide you with an ice roller to cool the skin and ice packets to take home for comfort. An SPF lotion is applied to the skin for sun protection after treatment.

Is there any downtime?

Mild to moderate redness and swelling will occur which usually lasts 3-7 days. Mild itchiness, warmth and a slight stinging sensation may occur immediately after treatment. The top epidermal tissue layer is left intact which dramatically reduces the recovery time.

Can you treat tanned skin or dark complexions?

Because Fractional non-ablative procedures bypass the melanin (pigment) layer of the skin to target the dermis we can safely and effectively treat darker and tanned skin. We perform the procedure year round however SPF is critical during the summer months.
