Eyelid surgery is one the most popular cosmetic procedures performed today. During this procedure, excess skin and tissue are removed from the upper eyelids to create a result that makes the eyes look more open and alert. In addition, if the lower eyelids are being addressed, this surgery eliminates the bags and wrinkles under the eyes. In some circumstances, small volumes of fat are added to improve hollow regions. Dr Demianczuk will assess the eyes and determine if an upper, lower, or combination surgery is needed to attain the results the patient desires.

Blepharoplasty / Eyelid Surgeon in Vancouver
During upper eyelid surgery, an incision is made within the natural fold of the upper lid. Once the incision is made, excess skin, tissue and, in some cases, a small portion of the orbicularis oculi muscle is removed. The incision is closed with temporary sutures and the scar remains almost completely hidden because of where it resides in the natural crease.
During lower eyelid surgery, an incision is made either along the bottom of the lash line, or from within the lower lid. An external incision allows the surgeon to tighten the skin where it is needed. In patients who have puffy lower eyelids but good skin tone, an approach known as a transconjunctival blepharoplasty can be performed. This technique places the incision inside the lower eyelid rather than outside. Patients who have dark circles under their eyes will sometimes have a deficiency of fat in these areas. The patients own fat can be used to help fill these soft-tissue deficiencies and can improve the appearance of these circles.
The Surgical Experience
Eyelid surgery is performed under local anaesthesia with mild sedation as an outpatient procedure in an accredited surgical facility. It generally takes up to 2 hours for both the upper and lower eyelids to be addressed. Following surgery, the area around the eyes will be bruised and swollen. Patients should apply ice packs, keep their heads elevated, and apply medicated eye ointment for a few days. Subtle, yet dramatic results restore a softer, more youthful appearance.
Cost
The cost for eyelid surgery varies for each patient and will fluctuate depending on whether both the upper and lower eyelids were addressed. Patients who undergo both upper and lower eyelid surgery will pay on average $9,000-$10,000.

Book a Consultation“Two dear friends recommended that I see Dr. D for my upper and lower eye-lift (and they know a lot of plastic surgeons). So, Dr. D preformed my surgery. He is conservative, and I went back to see him so he could “tweak” my eyelids a bit. They look great and so natural (the scars are barely visible). Now, I’m considering a face lift. If I go ahead I will certainly have him do it. He is not only very skilled, he is a nice man as well. His conservative approach suited my style.”
