Eyelid Surgery / Blepharoplasty

If your eyes appear tired or aged due to sagging skin, puffiness, or under-eye bags, eyelid surgery may help restore your appearance. Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes or repositions excess skin, fat, and tissue around the eyes. In Vancouver, Dr. Demianczuk customizes each procedure to your facial structure and aesthetic goals, offering upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or a combination of both for comprehensive rejuvenation.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid rejuvenation, also known as blepharoplasty, is one of the most common cosmetic procedures today. This surgery involves carefully removing excess skin and tissue from the upper eyelids to create a refreshed and more awakened appearance. When the lower eyelids are addressed, the procedure can help smooth out wrinkles and reduce puffiness or under-eye bags. In some cases, fat may be strategically added to restore volume to hollow areas. Dr. Demianczuk evaluates each patient’s needs to recommend upper, lower, or combined eyelid correction for optimal results.

With over two decades of experience in both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, Dr. Demianczuk is renowned throughout Vancouver for his exceptional skill and precision. His practice is centered on individualized attention and the highest standard of care. Our dedicated team is here to help you look and feel your best.

What is Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid rejuvenation, also known as blepharoplasty, is one of the most common cosmetic procedures. This cosmetic procedure addresses drooping upper eyelids, under-eye bags, and hollowing around the eyes. For the upper eyelids, surgery focuses on removing excess skin, fat, and muscle to contour and lift the lid. When the lower eyelids are addressed, the procedure can help smooth out wrinkles and reduce puffiness or under-eye bags. In some cases, fat may be strategically added to restore volume to areas that are hollow.

Candidates for Eyelid Surgery

You may be a good candidate for eyelid surgery if you are experiencing sagging upper lids that impair your vision or give a tired appearance, or if you have puffy lower lids and under-eye shadows that do not improve with skincare products. Ideal candidates are in good health, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations. Whether due to aging, genetics, or lifestyle factors, many people seek eyelid surgery to achieve a more refreshed appearance.

Your Eyelid Surgery Options in Vancouver

Upper Eyelid Surgery

In this procedure, a small incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid. Through this discreet incision, Dr. Demianczuk removes excess skin and may also adjust fat or muscle as needed. The scar is typically hidden within the crease and becomes less noticeable over time.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

For lower eyelid surgery, the incision may be placed just beneath the lash line or inside the lower lid, depending on the patient’s anatomy and goals. This allows for the removal of fat, repositioning, and gentle tightening of the skin. If volume loss is present, the patient’s own fat may be used to fill hollows and soften the area.

Recovery from Eyelid Surgery

Mild swelling and bruising are common in the first week, and most patients return to work or social activities within seven to ten days. Elevating the head, using cold compresses, and following post-operative instructions will help support a smooth recovery. We will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your healing and results.

Results from Eyelid Surgery

Results are visible as swelling subsides and healing progresses. Patients often notice smoother eye contours and a well-rested appearance. While some minor scars are inevitable, they are concealed within your natural eye creases and fade with time.

Before & After

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my vision change after eyelid surgery?

Upper eyelid surgery can help improve the vision for patients where the upper lid skin droops over the eye. Temporary dryness of the eyes is managed with eye drops, and may last 1-2 weeks. We take great care during this surgery so that the eyes themselves are left untouched and unharmed.

Will my crows feet be improved?

Eyelid surgery corrects puffy bags and excess skin, but minimally affects crow’s feet. To truly treat crow’s feet, one will need a different approach. BOTOX® injections are better options to help eliminate crow’s feet.

Will there be visible scars?

After surgery, scarring will not be easily visible because of where the incisions are placed. In the upper eyelid, the incision follows the natural crease of the eye. The lower eyelid incision will run just under the eyelashes or inside the eyelid. Scarring will be inconspicuous.

Patient Testimonials

“Two dear friends recommended that I see Dr. D for my upper and lower eye-lift (and they know a lot of plastic surgeons). So, Dr. D preformed my surgery. He is conservative, and I went back to see him so he could “tweak” my eyelids a bit. They look great and so natural (the scars are barely visible). Now, I’m considering a face lift. If I go ahead I will certainly have him do it. He is not only very skilled, he is a nice man as well. His conservative approach suited my style.”
